Lundy Island 2024/5

A huge thank you to all those who took part in the competitions on Saturday. After host tower donations I can send £100 to the DCBRF.

With significant celebratory years coming up for both the Guild and Association, I am hoping to arrange the Devon Ringer’s Council 6, 8, and 10-bell Call-Change Festival at St Helen’s Church on Lundy Island on the 4th Saturday in April either 2024 or 2025.

This will clearly need some advanced planning as bookings are already filling up for next year. I am open to suggestions as to how this could be arranged regarding accommodation, travel, and number of days. If we only get between 3-5 entries, it may be possible to arrange this without staying on the island.  Accommodation on the island appears to be geared up to staying more than one night but I will investigate all possibilities. Also, The Oldenburg appears to only travel on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Would you indicate please by May 31st whether you as an individual or your team would be interested in participating. As previously mentioned, any planning suggestions or preferences will be gratefully received. I can then decide whether this will be feasible or not and let you know the outcome by 1st June.

I fully appreciate how difficult it is to plan and look as far ahead as this so all I am asking at this stage is expressions of interest.

Should there not be enough interest to hold a competition but sufficient interest to visit the island, I would be happy to arrange a general ringing session travelling out and back in one day. This would be another Saturday (or weekday) leaving the 4th Saturday to hold the competition elsewhere.
