Jereme Darke - update

Quoting from Jereme's practice website:

"Many of you will already be aware of the terrible news regarding Jereme Darke[, the Association Secretary until last November].

"Jereme suffered a severe head injury as a result of a freak accident sustained on farm on Monday 9th January. He was immediately airlifted to Frenchay Hospital Bristol which specialises in neurological cases. He was diagnosed with a fractured skull and a bleed at the rear of the brain as well as severe facial injuries. This brain haemorrhage was obviously closely monitored and various procedures and monitors were put in place to reduce pressure and the risks of further complications. Surgery was performed in the early hours of Tuesday [10th Jan] morning to remove the blood clot, reduce brain pressure and assess damage.

"We appreciate how devastating this news is to take and the emotions associated with it and we all know how popular and active a character Jereme is in the ringing community. Our thoughts are obviously very much with him and his family at this very difficult time for us all."

Latest News ... 26th January 2012 ...

Jereme has regained conciousness and is recognising and communicating with visitors. He has, however, not been moved from intensive care yet as he has been on antibiotics to clear a slight chest infection he had. Doctors are hoping to move him to the High Dependency Unit at Frenchay hospital soon.
